Things to bring to school:
- School supplies: please see the supply list.
- Your child should bring their folder each day to school. Notes, homework, and important papers will go home often in your child’s folder. Please check their folder everyday.
- Please be sure to always have a change of clothes in school. Include a shirt, pants, underwear and socks. Place the clothes in a large ziploc bag and label it with your child’s name. The bag of clothes must always remain in your child’s backpack. If your child returns home in their change of clothes, please replace them immediately for the next school day.
- Label everything: Backpacks, clothing, and lunches all need to have names on them.
Please inform me in writing if your child will be celebrating their birthday in school. In accordance with school policies, goody bags, candles, and balloons are not permitted.
Please do not send birthday party invitations to school unless the entire class has been invited. Although it may seem convenient to distribute invitations this way, it can result in hurt feelings for those not invited.
We are a peanut-free room. All birthday treats must be peanut-free and contain a label of ingredients. Home made treats will not be accepted.
We will have snack time every morning. It is encouraged that each student brings a healthy snack and drink if not purchasing milk. Also, let your child know which foods in their lunch bag/box should be consumed for snack and then later for lunch.
If your child will be purchasing lunch, please place lunch money in an envelope and write your child's name and pin number on it. Lunch money is sent directly to the cafeteria each morning to ensure an accurate lunch count.
In the event other monies are sent to school for (book fair, plant/pumpkin sale, etc.) Please send it in an envelope labeled with your child's name, my name, and its purpose.
Please be advised that we are outside for lunch everyday, except in cases of inclement weather. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for the weather. Also, please be aware that on gym days children MUST wear sneakers and NO jewelry or they will not be permitted to participate in gym class.
Absence & Tardies:
Your child's regular and prompt attendance is crucial to his/her success. Most Kindergarten learning activities are hands on or group oriented. Therefore, it is very difficult to make up this type of work at home. Please view school as a priority, and see to it that your child attends school everyday except in cases of illness or emergency.
Please call the nurse’s office to notify her of your child’s absence prior to the start of the school day. Late students need to get a "late slip" from the office before coming to class.
Changes in Transportation:
If you plan to have your child go home a different way than they do, you MUST send a written note. Please do not rely on your child to tell me this information. If a written note is not received, your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation. Please also send a written note if someone other than a parent/guardian will be picking up your child that day.
