The HCES Title I Extended Day Learning Program provides students with enhanced learning opportunities in the areas of Social Emotional Learning, Math, ELA, and cross-curricular Project Based Learning activities (PBL). The Social Emotional Learning opportunities will help students focus their attention on work, develop resiliency when facing setbacks, work cooperatively and effectively with their classmates and adults, and become better communicators and problem-solvers.
Project-Based Learning will be used as a primary learning strategy to empower all students to learn academically rigorous content while developing 21st century skills. PBL is a method of teaching where students have a question or topic that relates to the curriculum that they work on for an extended period of time in an engaging, creative, and experimental manner and respond to the question through a challenge(s). The project is focused on student's learning goals and curriculum using creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and self-management.
